One of the saddest things about humankind, I think, is that the vast majority of us are more frightened of eachother than anything else you'd think to be scary.
Walking home tonight I found myself jumping at every odd-shaped shadow or misplaced log. Usually I'm totally fine walking home alone but I caught a different train than usual this time so maybe it was just that unfamiliarity. Anyway, as I walked I thought, "What am I actually scared of? That the log or shadow is going to come to life and eat me?" No, that the log actually turns out to be a dead body and that it would be my responsibility to deal with it. Or that the shadow turns out to be an axe murderer waiting for an amazingly beautiful girl like myself to walk by (I don't know why we always think so highly of ourselves tbh).
I don't know where that was really going but, it's interesting to look at from an evolutionary perspective; our ancestors would've been hunting wild beasts and endangering themselves everyday; their biggest threat was other animals. And I know those things are hardly threats to us now but does it really mean our biggest threat has to be our own species?
Probably.
I'm tired.
