This is, like, the coolest online musical thing ever. As it's title suggests, it's the sequel to A Very Potter Musical. And it's totally awesome, so you should go watch it now if you haven't already. Oh, and I don't have anything else on this list about Darren Criss, so I'd like to take this moment to say how very proud I am of him getting the role of Blaine in Glee. I less than three you, man.
Okay, I got really excited when I found out wizard rock was made an official genre of music on Wikipedia this year. Before, wizard rock was just under "Harry Potter fandom" or something, but since it's got it's own page, I feel like the fandom's finally being recognised and appreciated for what it really is. That may sound a little exaggerated, but you know, I love my Harry Potter ^_^
#8 Mowhawk for charity
In March this year, I shaved myself a mohawk for the World's Greatest Shave (a charity where people shave their heads to support people living with leukemia - money raised goes to finding a cure for cancer). I didn't end up raising much, but I guess it was better than nothing.
#7 Discovering LOST
I'd been hearing loads about this show Lost; especially from people I follow on Twitter and Youtube, and I remember when it came out when I was in year 6. I'm not much of a TV fan (apart from Doctor Who, of course) but I thought if so many people I looked up to thought this show was cool, then why shouldn't I? So with some birthday money, I bought the first season of Lost and loved it. I'm still only on the 2nd season, but it's better that I at least know the show now.
#6 Discovering The Hunger Games
Like Lost, I discovered The Hunger Games trilogy (by suzanne Collins) via Twitter and Youtube. I started reading only when the third book, Mockingjay, came out but I ended up reading the whole series in two weeks... which is a erally quick time for me. I highly recommend this book to... anyone really. If it helps, it's had good reviews from Stephanie -coughwankercough- Meyer and Stephen King! Oh, and there's also movies being made - can't wait! :D
#5 The build up to Deathly Hallows/ watching Deathly Hallows pt.1
The build up to it was especially epic. I started counting down from the day the date was officially announced and I watched every single trailer and interview I could find. I was not disappointed when the movie finally came out :)
#4 Highfiving Elliot Spencer
The kids TV host of Rollercoaster. Yeah. I went to see the musical thingy Glow, which was superawesome, and we ended up sitting a few rows in front of Elliot and I was freaking out. There were little kids in the front row turning around to wave at him and I was thinking the whole time "duude I wish I was a kid again." so after the show, I went up to him and asked him for a high five (his girlfriend looked slightly annoyed) and I got a high five from Elliot Spencer off Rollercoaster and it was SO AWESOME.
#3 Tron: Legacy
DUDE! I've waited thirty years for this movie to arrive! I mean, not really, but... gah it was so good. And I feel like such a great fan since I've seen the original Tron and almost no one else has...
[NO SPOILERS HERE]
Best part: Jeff Bridges and how successfully they turned back time on his face and GAHH THE WHOLE MOVIE IS SO JEFF BRIDGES
Worst part: This has nothing to do with the actual movie, but I can't stand the way North Americans say "Coaster Rica" when clearly, it's COSTA Rica. COST-ah. This is something I feel really strongly about, so I lost it when Sam Flynn said "Coaster Rica". I don't even know what he was talking about.
#2 Meeting Littleradge
This was my first YouTube/internet meetup/gathering kind of thing and it was one of my most awesome-filled days of 2010. Littleradge (Liam Dryden) is a Scottish Youtuber who looks like/ sounds like/ is David Tennant, most famous for his videos "CUZ I'M SCOTTISH" and "The TRUTH About David Tennant" AND he's in a band that sings about Doctor Who. And I hugged him, guys.
#1 The introduction of Awesome into my life
This year, I was introduced to Nerdfighteria, and I think it has been the most incredible experience of 2010. Through vlogbrothers I found so many awesome people and my entire music taste has shifted - while before, I mostly only listened to rocky grungey stuff, I now take pride in listening to awesome nerdy music as well, like Chameleon Circuit, ALL CAPS, Hank Green, Tom Milsom, Sons of Admirals and The Oceanic Six (to name just a few). Also, if it wasn't for Nerdfighteria, I would never have read such great books like the Hunger Games and be introduced to great 'tubers like fiveawesomegirls, charlieissocoollike and wheezywaiter, who has tought me to embrace my love of beards.
Thank you guys so much for everything. DFTBA.
